DNS records and changing nameservers

Prepare a DNS zone without interrupting mail and other services.

Inventory

Before changing nameservers, copy the current A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, CAA and other records from your DNS provider. A public scan can miss private or rarely queried names, so compare the zone with the provider’s own list.

Prepare and delegate

In Domains → DNS, add the records or preview an import and check names, values, priorities and TTL. Once the zone is ready, change nameservers at the registrar to the addresses displayed by HotWall. DNS propagation and cached answers can take time.

Verify and protect

Check the DNS connection status and test the website and mail after delegation. Protection affects only selected web hostnames: use the provided HotWall target, and keep MX and verification records. For an external DNS provider, follow its apex ALIAS or CNAME-flattening instructions.
